Tony Yang (AGA 7D), a current sophomore in high school, has published his first iOS app "ScribeGo" after three months of development, with the goal of helping players like him improve their skills in the game of Go. Currently, the app is only available on iOS with goal of eventually releasing on Android platforms.
ScribeGo is an app that simulates 打谱 (or replaying professional games), a fairly well-known technique, especially in Asia, to help students of the game improve in various aspects of Go (such as shape recognition, intuition, etc.). “The implementation of this strategy to an online platform revolutionizes and optimizes this practice,” says Yang. “Instead of needing a Go board and having to find professional games to replay elsewhere, ScribeGo combines both viewing professional games and allowing users to replay these games with efficient features, indicating to users whether the proposed move is correct and displaying an accuracy summary along with a ‘show move’ feature in case users get stuck.”
Noting that this is the app's initial release, Yang welcomes user feedback and reviews.
