The San Diego Go Club has hosted a Tuesday evening online go challenge game on KGS for several years. Kevin Yang, who became a pro in 2022, was the challenged player who accepted a game every week from anyone in the world. After the 30-minute plus byo-yomi game, the opponents would analyze the game for the benefit of the viewers.
As of September 5, there’s a new player accepting a weekly challenge: Tony Yang 7-dan, who won the 2023 US Open at the Kent State Congress and then went on to place third in the World Youth Go Championship in Shanghai. Tony will play an even game or up to a 9-stone handicap game against the strongest challenger at 7:00 p.m. PDT on KGS (SDGC room) followed by analysis.
Note: challengers do NOT have to be members of the San Diego Go Club.
