Lan Goes Undefeated to Win 2026 South Central Go Tournament

DALLAS, TX — The Dallas Go Club hosted the 2026 South Central Go Tournament at the University of Texas at Dallas on February 14–15, drawing approximately 60 players from Texas and neighboring states to compete across multiple divisions.

Juanshu Lan won the Open Section championship with a perfect 6–0 record. Zelong Dong and Ethan Whitman both finished at 4–2, with Dong claiming second place on strength of schedule tiebreakers and Whitman placing third.


In the Single Digit Kyu division, Yong Runshu Yiu of Houston took first place, followed by Gilbert Garza in second and Nate Choe in third.


Oscar Chen won the Double Digit Kyu division, with Lawrence Chou finishing second and Joshua Wagner placing third.


The tournament was directed by Tieling Xie. Sponsors included the Center for Asian Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas and Yellow Mountain Imports.


The annual South Central Go Tournament is one of the region’s key competitions, bringing together players of all levels to test their skills and strengthen the Go community in Texas and beyond.
